About Camille Freeman

What Is Herbalism?

  • Herbs are plants that are used to support the healthy functioning of the body, mind and spirit.
  • Herbalism is the art and science of skillfully collecting, preparing and utilizing these herbs.
  • Herbalism has been used by all cultures for millennia and is one of the oldest known healing arts.

Herbs can be prepared and used in many ways. Internally they can be taken as teas, powders, tinctures (alcohol extracts), syrups, or pills. Externally they are applied as liniments, oils and salves, or used in baths.

Should I See An Herbalist?

  1. Do you experience chronic symptoms or illnesses, either physical, mental or emotional?
  2. Does your daily life place high demands on your energy levels, vitality or well-being?
  3. Do you feel that you could be healthier and more balanced?
  4. Would you like to develop or strengthen your relationship with plants and reduce your impact on our environment?
  5. Would you like support in navigating the often overwhelming supply of herbal supplements and products?
  6. Do you believe that health and wellness extend beyond the absence of disease?
  7. Do you believe in the intrinsic ability of the human body to heal itself?

If you answered “yes” to any of the above questions, consider visiting a clinical herbalist!

What To Expect During A Consultation

Your first consultation will last approximately one hour and fifteen minutes. During this time, we will discuss your history, your current concerns and your goals for our sessions. In our conversation, we will work together to identify areas or organ systems that may need extra support. We will also discuss your diet, lifestyle and any supplements or medications you are currently taking, as well as how these factors may affect your health.

At the end of this session, I will recommend an herbal formula or preparation that is carefully chosen and specific to your constitution and current health conditions. Subsequent consultations will last approximately forty five minutes .

About Camille Freeman, M.A., Clinical Herbalist

Camille received her Bachelor's degree from Rice University in 2000. She completed an apprenticeship in herbal studies with Desert Woman Botanicals in Gila , New Mexico in 2001, and received her Master's degree from the Tai Sophia Institute in 2004. The Botanical Healing Master's degree program at the Tai Sophia Institute is the country's first Master's level program in clinical herbalism. Taught by internationally acclaimed professors, this program emphasizes both traditional uses of botanical medicines and modern information based on scientific literature.

I believe that the human body has the capacity to heal itself. Because of this belief, the focus of my practice is teaching you to enhance your body's capacity to heal and to function at its highest capacity. In my practice, herbs provide a 'nudge', coaxing the body back to its balanced and healthy state."

Camille is not a medical doctor; she does not diagnose or treat diseases.
