What You Should Know About Pregnancy Conditions

With so many physical changes taking place in the body during pregnancy, it’s not surprising that there are also so many common health conditions in pregnancy, including:

  • Abdominal pain
  • Back pain
  • Bladder problems (UTI)
  • Incontinence
  • Vaginal bleeding or vaginal discharge
  • Bowel problems
  • Colds, upper respiratory infections
  • Dizziness or faintness
  • Fatigue
  • Headaches
  • Heartburn and indigestion
  • Nausea and vomiting (“morning sickness”)
  • Leg cramps
  • Shortness of breath
  • Skin changes (stretch marks, excessive pigmentation)
  • Swelling
  • Varicose veins

Though the above conditions are commonly experienced during pregnancy and are usually little cause for concern, you should tell your doctor if you have them. Your doctor at Capital Women’s Care Howard County wants to make you as comfortable as possible throughout your pregnancy – just as we have done for thousands of women in Howard, Anne Arundel, Carroll, Montgomery and Frederick counties.
